Prop 38 Reverses California's Cuts to Early Childhood Education

Studies confirm that early childhood education is one of the best investments we can make.

Yet California has cut early childhood education by $1.2 billion since 2008, that's over 30%!

In addition to funding K-12, Prop 38 restores cuts, improves quality and expands access to early childhood education. Prop 38 provides $1.1 billion annually for early education growing to $2 billion by 2018.

More Investment in Early Years Will Boost School Readiness For Disadvantaged Children

Each year roughly 90,000 disadvantaged children will have access to high quality preschool, growing to over 170,000 children by FY2018 and over 240,000 annually by FY2024.

Another 10,000 highly at-risk children under age 3 will have access to a new Early Head Start program, growing to more than 20,000 children by FY2018 and over 30,000 by FY2024.
